Telligent Donates Expertise to Build Web Site For Spina Bifida Association of North Texas

DALLAS — Telligent, a Dallas-based company with a history of helping organizations apply the value of online communities to their business, participated in the inaugural “We Are Microsoft Charity Challenge” this past weekend, an event pairing teams of developers with non-profit organizations to develop software solutions for those charities at no cost.

The Spina Bifida Association of North Texas (SBANT) elected Community Server and Graffiti CMS as the platform to rebuild its existing site. SBANT needed a content management system that facilitated easy communication with the community while enabling the community members to relate to and share experiences with one another.
The Telligent team built three sites (an English site, a Spanish site, and an online community site). Over 20 percent of the Telligent Dallas staff participated in the challenge, working around the clock and completing a month’s worth of work in just two days.

“This was a huge initiative for us. The new Spina Bifida site not only enables us to communicate with our constituents online, but our ability to now support our large Spanish-speaking community is a huge win for us. During the scope of the project, the Telligent team was very approachable, very willing to do whatever it took to get the job done, and was a pleasure to work with. I was very impressed with the team and would use them again in a heartbeat,” said Jason Duncan, Web master and board member of SBANT.

Telligent helps organizations of any size—small, medium, or enterprise—apply the value of social media communities to their business. With over 30,000 customers served, including Associated Press, Dell, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, MySpace.com, and the NFL, Telligent uses easy-to-use software and creative services to help clients retain and share more of the valuable knowledge they and their customers create.

The Spina Bifida Association of North Texas offers education, social support and a myriad of activities year-round for children, adults and families affected by spina bifida.

This is a wonderful example of a company using its talents and expertise to benefit a local non-profit organization. The SBANT benefits not only from a more advanced Web site, but also the ability to use social media to keep people in the community connected. Kudos on a job well done!
