Dance Troupe Visits Students And Seniors

Reno, Nev. — The Utah Repertory Dance Theatre took time off from practicing for an upcoming dramatization that will be held Thursday at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts (Reno) in order to present a century of dance to students in northern Nevada.

On Tuesday, the troupe visited Spanish Springs High School to perform for a beginning musical theater class. Visits also were made to the University of Nevada, Reno and the Washoe County Senior Center. Trips to Fallon, Carson City, Winnemucca, Elko and Wells are planned for next week.

Sara Bogard, a musical theater teacher at Spanish Springs, said she worked with the nonprofit Sierra Arts Foundation to help bring the repertory group to campus. According the Reno Gazette-Journal, Bogard said it was important for her students because it showed them they would have to sing, act and dance to break into the field.
