Children's Museum Needs Executive Director

Carson City, Nev. — According to the Nevada Appeal, The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be looking for another executive director. This time, Maria Pence, a board member for about five years, said the board will look into restructuring the position so that it's easier to manage.

Pence said Lehman left because the full-time commitment was too much. The executive director position only pays about $20,000 a year, which might explain why this the museum's third executive director in two years.

"It might be time to look at restructuring the directorship, to see if it's time to divide and conquer that into different areas of expertise," she said. "It is a very demanding, stressful job."

While NBCB seldom puts out pleas for non-profits, some northern Nevada company might want to step forward as an angle sponsor, offering the museum the option of a loaned executive or a salary subsidy so future executives use this position less as a stepping stone and more as a permanent job.

Simply put, The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is a good idea that deserves attention form people with good ideas.
