NCNCS Announces Finalists

FALLON, Nev. - The Nevada Commission For National and Community Service announced the finalists in the upcoming 2006 Governor's Points of Light Award to be held on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Sam's Town in Las Vegas. The event, which recognizes the dedication, commitment, and determination of volunteers throughout Nevada is considered the highest volunteer honor in the state.

Of the three finalists in each service category, one recipient will receive top honors. The service categories include: nonprofit organization, corporation (or business), and northern, southern, and rural individuals. The event is sponsored by Boyd Gaming Corporation, General Growth Properties/Howard Hughes Corporation, IGT, Majestic Realty Foundation, MGM Mirage, Nevada Power, Sierra Health Services, Sierra Pacific Power, and Southwest Gas Corporation.

Finalists include: Nonprofit - Bonnie Schrek Memorial Comfort Care Program, Sierra Association of Foster Families, and Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids; Corporation - Focus Property Group, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., and Sierra Pacific Power Company; Northern Idv. - Daniel Kage, Kelly Smart, and Gil Yanuck; Southern Indv. - Heather Murren, Alisa Savoretti, and Mary Vaughn; Rural Indv. - Jeff Lambin, Rachel Lambin, and Nancy Maslach.
