NCNCS Calls For Nominations

FALLON, Nev. - The Nevada Commission for National & Community Service (NCNCS) announced that its 2006 Nevada Governor's Points of Light Award nomination forms are available online at:

The Governor's Points of Light Award was established to recognize individuals and organizations for their dedication, commitment, and determination in promoting and supporting volunteerism throughout the state. By recognizing their efforts, the state of Nevada, along with the Nevada Commission for National and Community Service, Inc., hope to inspire others in sharing a singular vision: “Strengthening Nevada through AmeriCorps and Volunteerism”. This vision involves working together to make a positive impact in the lives of people who need it most and in places where it can make a difference.

Nominations are due August 31, 2006 by 5:00 p.m. The event takes place on Thursday, November 2nd, 2005 at the South Coast Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, Nevada. The five recipients and ten finalists will be honored at this event.

“Nevada has an abundance of citizens of every age and background who give selflessly to improve our communities”, said Governor Kenny Guinn. “Nominate someone today and help me shine the spotlight on Nevada's many Points of Light.”
