Rio All-Suite Hotel Helps Break Charity Record

LAS VEGAS - The Golden Rainbow's 19th annual "Ribbon of Life" production raised more than $267,000.00 in cash in two days in the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in June. That figure does not include in-kind donations valued at more than $75,000.00. It was the single most successful event in the charity's 19-year history.

All proceeds remain in southern Nevada to provide housing and direct financial assistance to southern Nevadans living with HIV/AIDS. Golden Rainbow also funds prevention education initiatives.

Golden Rainbow is now planning to host its "2005 Toddy Awards," which showcase the best from "Ribbon of Life 2005." The ceremony will be held Thursday, July 21 at Krave Nightclub at Desert Passage on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Doors open at midnight (July 21 turning into July 22). The event is designed to be a party for the "Ribbon of Life" performers, and the public is invited to attend. There is no cover charge, but donations are accepted. There will also be a "Ribbon of Life 2005" DVD available for purchase.

The awards recognize dance and vocal performances, costumes, choreography and program ads. The Hollywood musical revue "Steppin' Out" by the cast of Jubilee! earned eight nominations.
