Boys & Girls Clubs Benefit From Disney

ATLANTA - With a $1 million donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Disney has been named the inaugural presenting sponsor of BGCA's Centennial Celebration in 2006, it was announced by the organization's President, Roxanne Spillett, at BGCA's national conference.  The $1 million donation brings Disney's total support of Boys & Girls Clubs to $3 million this year.

The donation is not the exclusive way Disney is helping communities. In Reno, The Disney Store is spearheading a nationwide back-to-school promotion this weekend, paving the way for consumers to help donate much-needed school supplies to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Truckee Meadows.

The Meadowood Mall store promotion is Saturday and Sunday, when customers can purchase two backpacks for $20 (regularly $14.50 each) or two lunch totes for $15 (regularly $9.50 each) and one of the items will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

“We wanted to make a difference for kids on a real grass-roots level and provide school supplies that children really need,” said Mario Ciampi, president of The Disney Store. “We thought it would be a great idea for our customers to become involved, so as to help their children learn about sharing with others who are less fortunate.”
