Bank of America Awards $330,000

LAS VEGAS - The Bank of America Nevada Foundation announced it provided $330,000 in financial support to more than 50 agencies in Nevada during the first half of 2005.

“Our long-term success depends on the health and vitality of the communities we serve,” said George Smith, president, Bank of America Nevada. "The community nonprofit agencies supported through foundation grants help our children succeed in life, neighborhoods flourish and communities prosper. I’m extremely proud to work for a company like Bank of America, where caring for and being involved in the community are priorities.”

Agencies receiving Bank of America Foundation grants were: Aid for AIDS in Nevada, Inc., American Heart Association, Arts Council of Henderson, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Las Vegas, Boy Scouts of America, Las Vegas Area Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas, Boys & Girls Clubs of Truckee Meadows, C*A*R*E Chest of Sierra Nevada, Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer, Center For Independent Living, Child Focus, Classroom on Wheels, Community Services Agency Development Corp., Desert Research Institute, Ely Renaissance Society, Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation, Foundation For Positively Kids, Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, Habitat for Humanity, Housing for Nevada, Inc., Huntridge Teen Clinic, Inc., I Have A Dream Foundation, Inc. - Las Vegas, Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, Junior League of Las Vegas, Latin Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund, Lied Discovery Children's Museum, March of Dimes, Nevada Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Nevada Children’s Cancer Fund, Nevada Community Foundation, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, Nevada Public Radio, Project Sunshine, Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April, Ronald McDonald House, Second Chance Foundation of Nevada, Special Olympics of Southern Nevada, United Way of Southern Nevada – Success By Six, University Medical Center Foundation, Variety Day Home, Vitality Center, Washoe Medical Center, Westcare Corporation, Women's Development Center, Women's Research Institute of Nevada, and YMCA of Southern Nevada.

The Bank of America Foundation focuses resources on helping children and families succeed in life and neighborhoods flourish. The Foundation operates with one of the largest philanthropic budgets of any financial institution in the United States and in 2004, contributed more than $109.5 million in cash to nonprofit organizations across the country.
