The Home Depot Builds Park

LAS VEGAS – Country music stars Trick Pony, Troy Gentry from Montgomery Gentry, Billy Gilman, Jason Aldean, and more than 100 volunteers from The Home Depot and volunteers from Academy of Country Music and the Las Vegas community banded together to build a playground in just one day for the children of WestCare Nevada. Based upon the children's drawings – complete with fanciful slides, colorful swings, and whatever their imaginations created – the playground provides a safe place to play for the center's children. WestCare Nevada is located at 5659 Duncan, Las Vegas.

''Volunteering and improving the communities in which we work, live and play is a fundamental part of the culture at The Home Depot,'' said Bruce Levitin, The Home Depot Regional Vice President. ''With the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas May 17, we wanted to celebrate our partnership with the country music industry by giving something back to the community of Las Vegas.''

This playground is possible through an ongoing partnership between The Home Depot, the nation's largest home improvement retailer, and KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to building playgrounds in neighborhoods that need them most. As the national sponsor, The Home Depot is provided financial support, materials, and more than 150 volunteers for the project. Artists from the Academy of Country Music Awards – Trick Pony, Troy Gentry from Montgomery Gentry and Billy Gilman - also helped on the project.

“The Academy is delighted that The Home Depot and KaBOOM! have decided to build a playground in Las Vegas in conjunction with the 40th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards,” said Gayle Holcomb, Academy of Country Music Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We have been so fortunate to partner with The Home Depot and KaBOOM! on several playgrounds and know firsthand what an asset they are to a community.”

WestCare strives to “uplift the Human Spirit” by providing hope and opportunities for individuals, families, and communities through state of the art treatment, services, and programs. The WestCare Women's and Children's Campus provides a safe haven for individuals who are seeking a healthy and productive lifestyle, free from the constraints of alcohol and drug abuse.

The Home Depot's partnership with KaBOOM! is part of the retailer's ongoing commitment to give back to the communities it serves. This is the 268th playground The Home Depot will build in partnership with KaBOOM! Community involvement and support of local nonprofit organizations are key parts of The Home Depot's corporate culture.
