Hospitals Host Men's Health Fair

HENDERSON, Nev. - St. Rose Dominican Hospitals will host a free Men’s Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 11 at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson, 2605 Eastern Avenue.

The Men’s Health Fair will include vision and hearing tests, cholesterol, glucose and lipid panel screenings along with skin cancer, body fat and blood pressure screenings. There will be an “ask a nurse” table, fun contests, like hairiest chest and biggest biceps, food, prizes, and giveaways.

''Men sometimes need a little more coaxing to take care of their health and get appropriate screenings,'' said Holly Lyman of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. ''We put everything they need in one place and surrounded them with motorcycles to make it a little more interesting for them.''

The cholesterol, lipid panel and glucose tests require a 10 hour fast and have a nominal fee. For more information, please call 616-4902. Las Vegas Harley-Davidson and Pfizer are sponsors of the Men’s Health Fair.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals are part of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), which owns and operates non-profit, non-tax supported, and mission driven hospitals and healthcare facilities in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals were named by The National Research Corporation as the co-winners of the 2004 Consumer Choice #1, Las Vegas’ Most Preferred Hospital in Overall Quality and Image Award. In 2003, St. Rose also received the Silver State Award at the Nevada Governor’s Awards for Performance Excellence (APEX). This was the first year the award was bestowed upon any organization and is the highest honor given at the APEX awards.
